The RTDA was established informally in December, 2001 by a small group of volunteers interested in developing tourism with the intention of providing employment for youths in Linden. .
The Association was formally registered as a non-profit organization in June, 2003. Although RTDA is,an independent organization, it has a close association with the Linden Chamber of Industry Commerce & Development. 

The main objectives of the Association are:

• To make recommendations and representation to government &regional officers on matters relating to Tourism in Linden and Region 10. 
• To foster the development of Tourism related Human Resources at all levels
• To develop and enhance the appearance of all historic sites within Region 10
