When a K&S tournament is on, the whole City of Linden is in a “state of emergency” with parties going on everywhere, traders and showmen from Georgetown, and a lot of other activities mainly around the Mackenzie Sports Club. Traditionally, the final is played in Linden on the New Year’s Day in the late evening. Hotels, guest houses as well as B&B providers have a hard time; everything is completely booked. Be wise and book in advance so that you don’t have to spend the night in the vehicle or return to Georgetown after a couple of drinks. You owe it to your and other people’s safety! The K&S Football Tournament is a major attraction to bring visitors to Linden. As such it presents one of our cornerstones for the development of event tourism in the Region. It dates back to 1989 when the first tournament was played – exclusively with teams from Linden. During the 90s the tournaments grew into a national and later even an international event with an increasing number of foreign teams participating.
